Day 18: The Mindset of Christ
Scripture: Philippians 2:5 – “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.”
Devotional
When it comes to winning the battle of the mind, we often focus on resisting negative thoughts, silencing lies, and guarding against fear—and rightly so. But there’s another key element that shifts everything: adopting the mindset of Christ.
Paul tells us in Philippians 2:5 that we are to have the same mind—the same attitude—that Christ had. And here’s the beautiful truth: it’s already ours in Him. We’re not being asked to manufacture a holy mindset from scratch. We’re being invited to live from what we’ve already received in Christ.
So what exactly is the “mindset of Christ”? Paul goes on to describe it in the verses that follow:
- A mindset of humility—not grasping for position, but lowering oneself to serve others.
- A mindset of obedience—yielding to the Father’s will even when it’s costly.
- A mindset of sacrificial love—choosing others over self, even to the point of the cross.
This mindset isn’t natural for us—it runs counter to the world’s values of self-promotion and control. But when we pray, “Lord, help me think like You,” our thoughts begin to soften, our hearts settle, and we find rest not in striving, but in surrender.
To win the battle of the mind, we need more than discipline—we need transformation. And that comes from letting the Spirit shape our thoughts to mirror Christ’s.
Today, ask God to renew your mind with the mindset of Jesus: humility over pride, obedience over control, and love over self-centeredness.
Additional Scripture for Meditation
- Romans 12:2: “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
- 1 Corinthians 2:16: “But we have the mind of Christ.”
- Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Reflection
- In what ways do your thoughts reflect pride, fear, or self-protection rather than Christ’s humility and love?
- How can you choose the mind of Christ in your relationships today?
- What does surrendering your thought life to God look like in this season?
Practical Application
- Pray Philippians 2: Read Philippians 2:1–11 slowly and ask God to imprint Jesus’ mindset onto you.
- Pause Before Reacting: Before responding, ask, “What would the mind of Christ look like here?”
- Declare It: Speak: “I have the mind of Christ. My thoughts are being renewed daily to reflect His heart and ways.”
